ADSL

ADSL can support Voice over IP services because a handset will usually only use 150kb of bandwidth. You will need to be mindful of your other data requirements, for example emails, videos, web browsing and file transfers. We would highly recommend that if you are going to have more than three users on-site, that you install one ADSL line to support  voice calls and another for data.

FTTC

FTTC can reach speeds of up to 80mbps (download) and healthy upload speeds too. This service is suitable for most small businesses and can easily support the activities of up to 10 people. If you are using FTTC solely for voice calls you could support up to 400 users. This, however, is unrealistic because it doesn’t take into consideration other activities such as  data usage and file transfer.

FTTP

Currently FTTP is the fastest service and most reliable service we can offer with the exception of leased lines. Fibre to the premises (FTTP) is being rolled out across the country and the government hope that the majority of the population will be using this service by 2025. It can reach speeds of up to 330mbps and this would be sufficient for most small and medium businesses.

First we need to work out which services are available at your exact location and you can  preview this by visiting https://availability.samknows.com/broadband/exchange_search. Simply enter your postcode and an array of information will be displayed telling you which services and which companies are available in your area.

Once we have established which services your site can support we will need the following information from you:

• Site contact details and site installation address
• Traditional land line requirements for burger alarms and PDQ etc.
• Number of IP addresses required for devices or services, for example mail service and firewall etc.
