What are UK Freephone Numbers and USA Toll Free Numbers

UK Freephone numbers and USA Toll Free Numbers are phone numbers where there is no cost to the caller for calling the number. All costs for receiving the call are borne by the subscriber. It is only free to the caller from within the same country where the number was issued.

We offer 2 types of Freephone and Toll Free numbers:

• UK Freephone Numbers (080x Numbers)
• USA Toll Free Numbers (+1 877 & +1 888)

This means you can have a single telephone number to cover the whole country, irrespective of actual geographic location within the UK or the USA.

UK Freephone numbers (080x) and USA Toll Free numbers (+1 8xx) are free to call from within their respective countries. If they are called from outside their countries callers are charged at international Direct Dial rates.

As a subscriber to one of these numbers you will need to be aware that there are different charges applied for UK Freephone numbers as compared to USA Toll Free numbers. Please refer to the relevant details below.

UK Freephone Telephone Numbers

How do UK Freephone Numbers work?

When a caller from the UK calls a UK Freephone Number there is no charge to the caller.  You, as the subscriber, are charged to receive the call and if you are diverting the call to a landline or mobile there will be an additional call diversion charge dependent on the divert destination.

There are different charges for the incoming call element dependent on the type of phone service making the call:

• UK landline
• UK mobiles
• Phoneboxes in the UK

Callers who call from outside the UK will not usually be able to reliably connect to the service and if they do they will be charged at international direct dial rates.

Receiving calls via UK Freephone Numbers

You can receive calls via any phone service, however some services are cheaper than others.  The cheapest way to receive a call via UK Freephone Numbers is by using VoIP.

It is possible to receive incoming calls via a UK Freephone Number to an existing landline or mobile.  The rates charged depend on the actual destination.

What plans are available for UK Freephone Numbers?

Any one of the following plans can be used:

• Pay monthly – 12 month contract. Minutes bundles available to offset call diversion and outbound call charges.
• Low User Plan with 100 blended UK landline and mobile minutes for outbound calling or call diversion – can upgrade to Medium or High user plans. 24 month contract. (Does not include inbound call charges)
• Medium User Plan with 1000 blended UK landline and mobile minutes for outbound calling or call diversion. Can downgrade and upgrade to Low User and High User Plans. 24 month contract. (Does not include inbound call charges)
• High User Plan with 3000 blended UK Landline & Mobile minutes for outbound calling or call diversion. can downgrade to Medium or Low User Plans. 24 month contract. (Does not include inbound call charges)

USA Toll Free Telephone Numbers

Now you can access the whole of the USA domestic market with a single USA Toll Free telephone number.  These types of numbers are free to call from any landline phone in the USA.  There may be charges to the caller if dialed from a cellphone.

There are no charges to receive the calls via a USA Toll Free Number on VoIP handset. You will incur call diversion charges if you divert the calls to a landline or mobile phone. Rates for call diversion vary dependent on the destination.

What services can be used with USA Toll Free Numbers?

• Single user and multi user Voice over IP
• Remote call forwarding and call divert
• SIP and IAX2 trunks

How do USA Toll Free Numbers work?

Callers can call free of charge, using a landline from anywhere in the USA.  There is no charge for you as a subscriber to receive calls to a Voice over IP device but you will be charged if you divert calls to another landline or mobile.  There is simply a monthly fee to pay.  

Receiving calls via USA Toll Free Numbers

You can receive calls anywhere in the world including VoIP devices, landlines and mobiles.  The costs of receiving calls to landlines and mobiles vary dependent on the destination.

• UK Unlimited (outbound calls to UK landlines and standard UK mobiles included)
• EU Unlimited (outbound calls to EU*/UK landlines and standard EU*/UK mobiles included)
